H2R Design Unveils Brew Café’s Jumeirah Refresh: A Coastal-Inspired Interior Redefining Café Culture in Dubai
In Dubai’s ever-evolving design landscape, where innovation meets storytelling, H2R Design has once again delivered a masterclass in spatial transformation. The award-winning interior design studio has unveiled its latest project: the interior refresh of Brew Café’s Jumeirah location. This space strikes the perfect balance between brand heritage and contemporary coastal living.
Located just moments from the shoreline, the new design reflects Brew’s core values of quality, craft, and comfort, while reimagining its identity through the lens of its vibrant beachside surroundings. The result is an elevated yet inviting café that seamlessly blends minimalism, texture, and warmth, establishing Brew as a true destination for design lovers, coffee enthusiasts, and Dubai’s creative community alike.
A Vision Rooted in Heritage and Place
When H2R Design was briefed on the project, the challenge was clear: refresh the café’s interiors without compromising the emotional connection cherished by Brew’s loyal customers.
Brew Café, known for its carefully curated menu and artisanal coffee culture, has built a substantial following across Dubai. Its interiors have always reflected the brand’s personality; understated yet characterful, contemporary yet grounded. For the Jumeirah refresh, H2R’s vision was to honour Brew’s established DNA while weaving it seamlessly into the beachside context.
Speaking about the project, Hasan Roomi, Co-Founder of H2R Design, explains:
“More than a renovation, Brew Me Up represents a thoughtful evolution of Brew’s spatial identity. At H2R, our philosophy is always that design should evolve without losing the soul of a brand. This project showcases how a space can grow and transform while preserving the emotional connection that makes Brew so beloved.”
“Brew Me Up”: A Collage of Textures and Experiences
Central to the redesign is the concept of “Brew Me Up”, a creative philosophy developed by H2R to celebrate diversity, texture, and layered design. Rather than approaching the project as a singular visual statement, the team created a collage of shapes, volumes, and materials that work harmoniously together.
This narrative-driven approach allowed the designers to honour Brew’s brand history while crafting a fresh, site-specific identity that resonates with the café’s community and its stunning coastal surroundings. Visitors are invited to experience the space on multiple levels, discovering subtle design details that unfold over time.
A Shift in Colour: From Iconic Green to Coastal Blue
One of the most striking design choices was transitioning from Brew’s signature green to a soothing blue palette; a move inspired directly by the café’s proximity to the sea.
Blue, long associated with tranquillity and clarity, establishes an immediate connection to the nearby shoreline while subtly referencing Brew’s original branding, where blue appeared in early identity work.
To balance the cool, coastal tones, H2R introduced warm terracotta and earthy accents through flooring, built-in seating, and decorative details. These hues ground the space and evoke natural textures like sand, clay, and driftwood, creating a dialogue between the café’s contemporary interior and its organic environment outside.
Materials and Textures: A Layered Design Language
H2R’s redesign is rooted in materiality and tactility, combining raw, natural finishes with refined, contemporary detailing. The studio created a layered interior where contrasts play a defining role:
Rough plaster walls meet smooth timber panelling, creating a warm yet minimalist backdrop.
Brushed metal accents punctuate the space, reflecting light while adding a subtle industrial edge.
Soft textiles and curtains act as flexible dividers, creating moments of intimacy without interrupting openness and natural light.
Lighting was meticulously curated to highlight these material contrasts, with sculptural ceiling elements and feature pendants guiding visitors through the café while drawing attention to key architectural gestures and textural finishes.

Brand Continuity Meets New Identity
While Brew’s Jumeirah café introduces a distinct coastal personality, H2R also ensured brand continuity across the company’s locations.
A tiled counter, inspired by Brew’s popular Mirdif branch, acts as a visual anchor and unites the cafés through shared design language. Similarly, the tiled island transitions organically into a built-in terracotta-toned bench, establishing a cosy and grounded area that encourages social connection and quiet reflection alike.
By referencing existing design elements while introducing new, site-specific touches, H2R successfully bridges Brew’s past and future — creating an interior identity that feels both familiar and completely reimagined.
Overcoming Challenges Through Creative Solutions
Renovating an existing structure comes with its own set of architectural and logistical challenges, and the Jumeirah project was no exception.
H2R Design had to work within structural limitations and layout constraints, making every design decision intentional and precise. Through thoughtful spatial planning, carefully controlled lighting, and colour selection, the team maximised functionality without compromising aesthetics, ensuring the café feels open, welcoming, and connected to its surroundings.
A Café Designed for Connection and Community
More than just a refresh, Brew’s Jumeirah café represents a reimagining of the modern coffeehouse experience. H2R’s design emphasises human connection, slowness, and community, values increasingly sought after by Dubai’s discerning café-goers.
The spatial flow encourages visitors to linger longer, with seating zones that cater to both social gatherings and private moments. Natural light floods the interiors, amplifying the serene, coastal-inspired palette, while soft textures and layered materials create a sense of warmth and comfort.
Why This Project Matters for Dubai’s Design Scene
The Brew Café refresh arrives at an exciting time for Dubai’s interior design industry, which continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace. Projects like this demonstrate a growing appetite for design-driven hospitality experiences where interiors are as carefully crafted as the food and drink on offer.
By blending heritage with innovation, H2R Design sets a new benchmark for café interiors in Dubai, showing how material storytelling, brand authenticity, and contextual awareness can transform even small-scale spaces into destination-worthy experiences.
With this interior refresh, H2R Design has elevated Brew Café into more than just a coffee destination; it’s now a design statement that celebrates craftsmanship, community, and coastal living. Through its considered materiality, palette transitions, and narrative-driven concept, the project reflects Dubai’s growing identity as a hub for innovative, world-class design.
For design lovers, architects, and creatives in the UAE, Brew’s Jumeirah café offers an inspiring case study in how to redefine a brand through interiors, and a reminder of how thoughtful design can transform everyday spaces into extraordinary experiences.
